Deming Museum - 1980s
The Museum was originally the National Guard Armory. Early in this
Century military troops were billeted in the unfinished building as
recruitment for the forces, needed to defend the US/Mexico border, was in
progress. The building was completed two months after the famous Pancho
Villa Raid (March 9, 1916) at Columbus, New Mexico...The Armory was later
used as the USO activity center for the military troops stationed in the
Deming area during WW II. There is no set admission charge but donations
are appreciated...There is wheel chair access and a motorized chairlift
is also available.....Stop by the next time you are in Deming.....
